Would you like to be featured in a book? Of course, you would! I'm working on a interior decor book that shows how people have brought in their family history, heritage, or culture into the styling of their home. If you think you have a home that qualifies or you have any questions, email me and let me know. I'm taking submissions until April 10, 2007.
I've gotten a few questions already (since Grace posted it on her blog) and I just wanted to tell everyone that exactly how you bring these elements into your home is totally open to interpretation. You are connecting with your family history, heritage, or culture in your own way--how you've done it is your story to tell. For example, I'm trying to connect with my Philippine culture and so I've brought in decor to celebrate that. There's another person who uses wilderness motifs (trees, bears, etc) to connect to her family's early American history. Maybe your home has antiques you've inherited. Maybe you've created a collage or quilt that traces your families' history. However, I should point out that you can't just have one thing in your home that fulfills the requirement, there should be a variety of things.
(The above image is from the bar in my home with Philippine wood folk art that I repainted. Below is a picture of the original pieces.)
Oh this is so cool, I love the whole concept, and wish you a lot of success with it!

Yes, really cool concept. I've been reading your blog for a while now and had no idea you're Filipina, too. Very cool. Best wishes with the project. I may indeed respond to the call.
