I haven't been this excited about a find in a long time!
Thank you to K. Cooper for introducing me to Cloverfield Press which hopes to bring the spirit of indie films to a printed medium. They look to be the coolest indie publisher next to McSweeney's. What could be better than good writing, good design, and good printing? I just ordered a couple of their objet d'art books--hoping that they live up to the hype!
Above is the cover from The Cubist Infant by Justus Ballard. The description is lovely: "It's about the zany adventures of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque as they get together and invent Cubism. It's about war, the futility of art, loneliness and frustration. It's about what a fucking bitch Gertrude Stein was." Zing!
This gorgeous cover is from Ventura County by Laurence Dumortier which says "When is a triangle not a triangle? Love and grief from two points. And the other - a furry grey thing?" I'm intrigued...
my friend just got me a "subscription" to these and I love them so much! I have three and am eagerly awaiting the fourth!
